I've always wanted to write -- and after earning my first paid byline as a journalism undergrad at Boston University, I knew I'd found my career. I did a brief post-college stint as a daily newspaper reporter before going freelance in 1990. Since then, I've co-authored one book, contributed to two others, written hundreds of articles for consumer and trade publications, and taught an online writing class four times a year for more than a decade.

My journalism background and research skills make me a quick learner, someone who can step into almost any situation, gather information, and present it in a way other people can understand. I draw on those skills every day, whether I'm writing an article about women's health or a case study about high-speed networking.

I'm an active member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors. I live and work in San Francisco, where I drink too much coffee and buy too many books.
